Sun 12 May 2024, what a beautiful summer day for our first ever PEAK X Gerben ‘Back to Our Roots’ Ride 😎!
Gerben, one of our highly valued members, recently moved to Amersfoort, ‘back to his roots’. Coincidentally, this is also the city where Joyce grew up. Gerben took the initiative to organise a longer ride for us, to Amersfoort and back. Of course, we couldn’t refuse that offer:-)
We planned a beautiful and varied 129 km route together that started along the Naardermeer and the Loosdrechtse Plassen. We crossed the former airport Soesterberg that turned into a nature reserve after its closure and rode through fragrant forests. We also passed some typical ‘back to our roots’ spots like the Corderius College where Joyce went to high school.
Gerben also invited us all for lunch at his place. We thoroughly enjoyed the delicious fresh food and drinks he served us in his lovely garden. A real – and well-deserved – treat after the first 80 kilometers!
After lunch we continued our ride back to Amsterdam through the wide open polder landscape. We finished the day with a refreshing drink on the terrace of our clubhouse Elixer. A day to remember!
Besides enjoying a ride with a great pack of PEAK-buddies, we also had the chance to ride with Gerben again. Thank you so much for the amazing route, your hospitality and the delicious lunch 😋!!
