Yes! 5 years of great riding, challenging in and outdoor training, cool events and memorable trips with an amazing group of passionate and adventurous cyclists:-) It’s with great joy and pride that we invited our members to ride and toast with us to celebrate this special milestone on Sun 1 Sept 2024!
We planned a beautiful 90km ride through Waterland, full of memories from our early days. It turned out to be the warmest 1 Sept ever (no, this is not a joke!). In line with the tradition from back then, we stopped for a short break @Viswinkel De Haven in the harbour of Volendam, where we used to eat a herring or a portion of ‘kibbeling’ (and where we once accidentally left Wiebe behind; he was still in the bathroom; oops!).
We finished @ our clubhouse Elixer and raised our glasses to all the incredible rides, experiences and events that we’ve shared. We did the “helmpje op/helmpje af quiz” to test our members about their knowledge of PEAK. Isis was the winner by giving the correct answer to the last question: If you add up the number of kilometers from our Sunday rides, how many kilometers would that be? (11.500).
We put Paul, our very first member, in the spotlight and bought him a small gift: a booklet about Mindfulness for cyclists (we think he might use that from time to time). We also invited him to let it circulate among his PEAK-buddies, so that everyone can pick something to his/her advantage. We’re very curious how this will turn out (?).
Last but not least: a big thank you goes out to all PEAK-budies for their confidence, time, energy, team spirit and passion. And for all the kind words and the lovely gifts we received today, very much appreciated. Keep it up! You have made PEAK the cycling club that it is today. Cheers!
